On October 1, 2026, IRCC held a Trades Occupations category-based draw (#447), issuing 3,500 ITAs at a minimum CRS score of 476.
The previous draw on September 29 was a Canadian Experience Class draw with 2,000 ITAs at a CRS cutoff of 518, and a PNP draw on September 28 issued 733 ITAs at a CRS of 725.
As of October 1, 2026, IRCC has held 59 Express Entry draws in 2026, issuing a total of 135,215 ITAs.
What You Should Do
- If you have at least 6 months of continuous work experience in a qualifying trade occupation within the past 3 years, check your eligibility for the Trades Occupations category at canada.ca/express-entry and ensure your Express Entry profile is active and up to date.
- If your CRS score is 476 or above and you have trades experience, verify your profile submission timestamp — the tie-breaking rule for Draw #447 was May 28, 2026 at 16:55:23 UTC, meaning earlier profiles were prioritized.
- If you are in the Canadian Experience Class stream, note the current CRS cutoff is 518. Use the CRS score calculator at ircc.canada.ca to see if you qualify and identify ways to boost your score (e.g., additional language testing, a job offer, or a provincial nomination).
- Monitor the IRCC Express Entry draw history page at canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations.html — the next draw is expected within approximately 7 days of October 1, 2026.

Topics Covered
CRS Cutoff Trends: The October 1 Trades Occupations draw had a CRS cutoff of 476 (3,500 ITAs), while the September 29 CEC draw cut off at 518 (2,000 ITAs). The Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience draw on September 16 set a new category low at CRS 389.
PNP Express Entry Draw Trends: Three PNP-specific Express Entry draws were held in August–September 2026, with CRS cutoffs ranging from 697 to 760 and ITAs ranging from 442 to 733.
Category-Based Selection System: IRCC held multiple category-based draws in September–October 2026, covering Trades Occupations, Healthcare and Social Services, Physicians with Canadian Work Experience, Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience, and French-language proficiency.
How these topics connect
Candidates should not evaluate their CRS competitiveness against a single benchmark — a score of 420 is uncompetitive for CEC draws but highly viable for French-language draws, and a score of 169 was sufficient for the Physicians category, illustrating how category-based selection has fundamentally fragmented what it means to be 'competitive' in Express Entry.
The rising PNP cutoff trend from 710 in March to 805 in late May 2026, combined with shrinking ITA volumes per draw, suggests the pool of Express Entry-linked nominees is thinning — which may indicate that the 91,500 PNP allocation is being absorbed primarily through direct provincial streams rather than the federal Express Entry pool.
The dramatic range in CRS cutoffs (169 for Physicians to 802 for PNP) is not random volatility but a structural outcome of the category-based system; candidates should assess their scores relative to their specific eligible category rather than the overall pool.
The wide variation in CRS cutoffs reflects Canada's strategic shift toward targeted selection, where occupation-specific needs drive dramatically different entry requirements.
