What You Should Do
- If you have a FSWP Express Entry application in progress, check your updated processing time at canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html — your wait is now estimated at 7 months (up from 6).
- If your work permit is expiring while your PR application is pending, check eligibility for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) before your current permit expires. Apply through your IRCC online account at canada.ca.
- If you are sponsoring a spouse from outside Canada (outside Quebec), update your timeline expectations to reflect the new 1-month increase and confirm your application status via the IRCC portal at canada.ca.
- Parents and Grandparents Program applicants: processing times have shortened by one month as of September 3 — check your current status in your IRCC account to see if your file has progressed.
