As of July 7, 2026, IRCC reduced processing times by one to two months for Canadian Experience Class (now 6 months), base PNP, Quebec Business Class, and Parent & Grandparent Program applicants.
Citizenship grant processing times have dropped to a four-month low, while Express Entry-aligned PNP and spousal sponsorship applicants outside Quebec saw times increase by one month.
The realistic end-to-end Express Entry timeline from profile creation to receiving a PR card is 12–18 months, as the published 6-month IRCC standard only counts from Acknowledgement of Receipt, not from profile submission.
What You Should Do
- Check your current estimated processing time using IRCC's official tool at canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html — times were updated July 7, 2026 and vary by stream.
- If you are a Canadian Experience Class applicant, note your stream is now within IRCC's 6-month service standard — if your application has been pending longer than 6 months post-Acknowledgement of Receipt, submit a web form inquiry at ircc.canada.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp.
- If you are an Express Entry-aligned PNP or spousal sponsorship applicant outside Quebec, build in an extra month to your planning timeline — both streams increased by one month in the July 7 update.
- Citizenship applicants: processing times are now at a four-month low — if you meet eligibility requirements, confirm your physical presence calculation using the IRCC physical presence calculator at cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/calculator.asp before applying.
