Provincial Nominee Program Update — June 4, 2026
Thursday, June 4, 2026
Ontario discontinued multiple OINP streams on May 30, 2026 — including Foreign Worker, International Student, In-Demand Skills, Master's Graduate, PhD Graduate, French-Speaking Skilled Worker, Skilled Trades, and Entrepreneur streams — as part of a two-phase overhaul announced in December 2025.
BC PNP released an updated Skills Immigration Program Guide effective May 28, 2026, reflecting April 23 restructuring that narrowed Skills Immigration to two active streams (Skilled Worker and Healthcare) with selection now highly targeted to provincial priority sectors: Care, Build, and Innovate.
BC PNP's Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support initiative will open for registration from June 15 to August 31, 2026, with a webinar for stakeholders scheduled for June 10, 2026.
What You Should Do
- If you were planning to apply under a discontinued OINP stream (e.g., Foreign Worker, International Student, In-Demand Skills, Master's Graduate, PhD Graduate, French-Speaking Skilled Worker, Skilled Trades, or Entrepreneur), do NOT submit a new application — wait for Ontario to announce replacement stream details at ontario.ca/oinp-updates.
- If you already submitted an OINP application under a discontinued stream, your application will be assessed under the eligibility criteria in place at the time of submission — confirm your submission date and keep records.
- If you are a healthcare worker in BC interested in rural/remote work, register for the BC PNP Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support initiative between June 15 and August 31, 2026 at welcomebc.ca.
- Attend the BC PNP webinar on June 10, 2026 covering the CARE objective and Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support initiative — check welcomebc.ca for registration details.
- Review the updated BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide (effective May 28, 2026) at welcomebc.ca/documents to confirm your occupation aligns with the Care, Build, or Innovate priority sectors before submitting a BC PNP application.
