Provincial Nominee Program Update — July 16, 2026
Thursday, July 16, 2026
IRCC ran four targeted Express Entry draws between July 6–10, 2026, issuing 8,034 ITAs: the largest was a French-language draw (5,000 ITAs, CRS 420), followed by a senior managers with Canadian work experience draw (CRS 392), a CEC round (CRS 517), and a PNP round (CRS 708).
Ontario overhauled its PNP on June 25, 2026, replacing all 8 existing streams with a single new 'Ontario Workforce Priority' stream focused on arranged employment and hard-to-fill roles; the Expression of Interest system for the new stream is expected to open later in summer 2026.
As of March 30, 2026, provinces now have sole authority to assess PNP candidates' intent to reside and economic establishment — IRCC can no longer reassess these factors once a valid provincial nomination certificate is issued.
What You Should Do
- Check your CRS score and category eligibility at canada.ca/express-entry to determine if you qualify for the next French-language (CRS ~420), senior manager (CRS ~392), CEC, or PNP draw based on July 2026 cutoffs.
- If you are an Ontario PNP applicant or were in one of Ontario's 8 now-eliminated streams, visit ontario.ca/page/2026-ontario-immigrant-nominee-program-updates immediately to understand how the new Ontario Workforce Priority stream affects your application and watch for the Expression of Interest (EOI) system opening announcement later in summer 2026.
- If you hold or are pursuing a BC PNP nomination, note that BC received only 5,254 allocations for 2026 (versus its requested 9,000) — prioritize submitting a complete, competitive profile through the BC PNP Tech Pilot or Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) as soon as possible given the tighter quota.
- If you received a provincial nomination certificate on or after March 30, 2026, be aware that your province — not IRCC — has already assessed your intent to reside and economic establishment; ensure your nomination certificate is valid and up to date before submitting your federal PR application at ircc.canada.ca.
