As of September 1, 2026, BC's Skills Immigration registration pool holds 8,013 candidates; the most competitive score band is 100–109 with 1,559 registrations, and only 8 candidates score 150+.
As of March 30, 2026, provinces now have sole authority to assess economic establishment ability and intent to reside — a valid provincial nomination certificate is now treated as sufficient proof of both, reducing IRCC's overlap in the process.
Ontario launched the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream on August 4, 2026, opening its expression of interest (EOI) portal; the stream covers all NOC TEER categories and includes a pathway for self-employed physicians.
What You Should Do
- If you are in the BC PNP Skills Immigration pool, check your current score against the September 1, 2026 pool breakdown at welcomebc.ca/immigrate-to-b-c/about-the-bc-provincial-nominee-program/news — scores of 110+ put you in the top ~31% of the pool.
- If you are a BC PNP candidate in childcare, health, education, veterinary care, or construction trades, review the Care and Build category invitation criteria at welcomebc.ca — these categories were targeted in the August 6, 2026 invitation round.
- If you are interested in Ontario's new Workforce Priority Stream, submit an expression of interest through the OINP EOI portal at ontario.ca/page/2026-ontario-immigrant-nominee-program-updates — the portal opened August 4, 2026. Review eligibility criteria before applying, as all NOC TEER categories are accepted.
- If you received a provincial nomination certificate on or after March 30, 2026, be aware that IRCC will no longer re-evaluate your economic establishment ability or intent to reside — your certificate serves as proof of both.
