Ontario opened its new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream expression of interest (EOI) portal on August 4, 2026, accepting candidates with job offers across all NOC TEER categories, including self-employed physicians.
Nova Scotia is running a one-time expansion of its PNP selection priorities to retain workers already living and working in the province — specifically targeting candidates with active EOIs submitted on or before June 30, 2026, whose work permits expire in 2026 or earlier.
Nova Scotia emphasized that meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection, as available nomination spaces, program integrity, and labour market priorities all factor into decisions.
What You Should Do
- If you are in Ontario and have a job offer in any NOC TEER category (or are a self-employed physician), visit ontario.ca/page/ontario-immigrant-nominee-program to review the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream eligibility criteria and submit an Expression of Interest through the OINP portal as soon as possible.
- If you are already living and working in Nova Scotia with a work permit expiring in 2026 or earlier, check whether you submitted an EOI to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program on or before June 30, 2026. If so, confirm your EOI is active and your profile is up to date at novascotiaimmigration.com to be considered under the one-time expanded selection.
- If you are a Nova Scotia worker whose work permit expires soon and you have NOT yet submitted an EOI, note that the one-time expansion only covers EOIs submitted on or before June 30, 2026 — explore other pathways such as the Atlantic Immigration Program or federal Express Entry at canada.ca/express-entry.
